A Christmas Gift!

Saturday, it was Christmas as usual, but my best friend and I made plans to spend time with her two little girls, go to the park, after the arrival of Santa, who came ringing our door bell, and left so fast, that by the time the girls got up from bed and run to the door Santa was gone!! but there were some really cool gifts Santa had left behind for them! I marvel every time we have visitors and they tell the story over and over again with so much excitement! And a reminder that this day, is to show our family, friends, and those less privilege that Christ is real in our lives. And so, we did went to the park, the day was beautiful, we fed the ducks at a nearby Resaca, we flew a kite and then just run all over the park with the girls. But we also had plans to go to Matamoros, to share some of our blessings with kids that leave in the slums of the city dump

With the help and support of family and friends, we were able to put together 50 reusable bags, full of candies, toys, and nice stuff animals that we got as donations, or bought at the local flee market for fifty cents or $1.00, which we put on the washer and dryer, and stuff animals came up like NEW! It was so much fun putting the bags together, but even more fun we had when we when to a new colonia, visiting new people and making new friends!

There were four of us, members of CASA, who went there. We have much difficulty getting to this new place as there are no pave roads, and my car is so low, that many times, I thought we were going to get stuck. First we arrived at Brisa and Brendas carboard house. Two little girls who were playing at this horrible place where it is hard to imagine anyone could possible live in such a place. But Brisa was excited to have visitors, and run to her neighbors to get Brenda, her little friend and so we met both of them, nice girls. We ask what they were doing for Christmas and they look at each other, as if the concept was foreign to them! My friend asked them about Santa, and again, they look puzzled! So we didn’t say the bags were X-Mas presents, just gifts some people send their way! When they open, and saw the stuff animals, they started to run as if they had just received a fortune! Other kids knew about Christmas but were not expecting any gifts, so they were happy with our visit.

As it is hard to cross with donations in quantity, we only gave 25 bags on X-Mas day, it was nice to visit new people, and become friends with them. I promise them I will be back just to visit! As for the other 25 bags, we will distribute on January 6th the day of the Three Kings, who knows, maybe like the wise men, we might be touch by a miracle and meet someone that will change our lives forever!
